Artist's Comments

Macro's not something I normally do, and flower pictures are kind of considered cliches, but I still like how this one came out. Natural light, no flash, and my 17-month-old daughter tugging at my pants leg as I took this. I lowered the exposure slightly in Photoshop Elements and cropped it to just the rose, but that's it for maniplulation.

I grant permission to any club or group to which I belong (check the icons in my journal or links in my signature for the most recent list) to post my work in their journal or gallery.

I read your description, but still, if you'd like to see pictures of flowers of a pinkish color, my recent submissions is good for that. :iconvelvetxskies:

this is a lovely shot of a flower!

Very nice shot, but the focus appears to be just a tad soft, or maybe the image was enlarged a bit too much. Otherwise, an excellent composition!

I can kinda see what you mean...but the image still came out almost exactly the way I saw it in my head, soft focus and all, so I don't think I'd really do anything differently.

Thanks for stopping in and looking, though; it means a lot.

Ok. No problem.

Great capture!

I really like the dof you have - love the meshing of the greens behind the vivid pink - it's wonderful!

The only thing I would perhaps change (you can tweak this in PS) is slightly sharpen the image a little - I would love to see the centre in particular sharpened as it really is the heart of the flower!

Other than that great shot!

I find the roses are some of the hardest flowers to shoot, but by looking at this, you did a pretty good job. The angle is nice and so is the lighting--shooting indoors or under a cloudy sky is always the best. Tonal values are also a nice strong point. The soft lighting on the top of the roes comes first in mind. The image is a bit soft, there are no clear and crisp lines that should be there for a macro shot. I think to have an effective shot, one must shell out the cash for an actual macro lens, but nonetheless, this is still a nice shot.

I might give it a shot, but as I told cccpk above, this is pretty much how I saw this one in my head as I was shooting it. Now, for future endeavours, I'll certainly keep this bit of advice in mind.... :)

Thanks for all your time and all your help.
